Before CrossFit showed up the only alternatives for most guys were either long distance running, or doing endless sets and reps in a weight room with no real clue what you were doing and no proof that it was actually working.

CrossFit changed things by bringing in constantly changing workouts and professionally coached training sessions. The constant variance means you no longer get bored. Classes are a maximum of an hour long, which means you can turn up, be coached and go home or go to work.  You’re guided through the movements and exercises and you are told why you’re doing the training you are doing for the day. The guesswork is gone.

Hi, I’m Alex, the Owner and Head Coach at CrossFit Waimakariri.

CrossFit has changed my life, when I started I was overweight and had a list of metabolic diseases as long as my arm. High cholesterol, high blood pressure and heart problems to name a few. 

After two years of doing regular CrossFit sessions and eating better, I was finally taken off the last of my medications, some of which I had been on since I was 18.

Exercise and nutrition gave me back my life and allowed me to do all the things I was missing like running around with my daughter. I now spend my time trying to help people in a similar situation as me.

I wound up at CFWM because I wasn’t at a low point in life, but I was at a low point in me, I had been recovering from quite a nasty accident, a skiing accident, that I had three years ago. WHEN ARE YOUR CLASSES ON?
We have classes at 5:30am, 9:30am, 5:30pm and 6:30pm Monday to Friday, we also have a Saturday morning class at 8:00am. These times are subject to change so for an up to day timetable check out our schedule page below.

SCHEDULE

HOW LONG ARE YOUR CLASSES?
Our sessions are one hour long and include a full warm up, workout, and a cool down, which them easy to fit into a busy schedule.
WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
This program is for anyone interested in improving their overall quality of life. Our members range from Olympic athletes to grandmothers. We can help you regardless of where you are in your fitness journey.
BUT WHAT IF I'M REALLY OUT OF SHAPE AND SUPER NERVOUS?
I was in your shoes. Trust me when I tell you, you’ll be totally fine. Take the first step and come talk with us, you have nothing to lose
I'M INJURED. CAN I STILL DO THE PROGRAM?

Absolutely. Our Gateway Program is scalable meaning we can work around old injuries, tight muscles, and creaky joints.

DO I NEED A CONTRACT?
Nope. We don’t really like contracts.We want you to come in and give it try and see if it’s for you. Contracts just make that decision harder.
DO I HAVE TO COME TO THE SAME CLASSES EVERY TIME?
No, not at all. You are free to pick and choose which classes you want to come to. If you work shifts or just have kids this means you can always get a session in.
